Speak to even young babies in complete sentences. Children who have been talked to in short choppy sentences e.g. "Go bye-bye" are delayed in their speech development.

At a young age start using descriptive words when talking to your baby. Describe objects as hard, soft, smooth, rough, etc. Whenever the baby touches something describe the object. E.g. "The window pane feels smooth. Daddy's beard feels rough." etc. Also can also describe hot and cold. "The freezer is cold burr." "Mommy's coffee is hot."
