Christmas is approaching fast! Please remeber those less fortunate this season. Here are some suggestions. Feel free to add your own
Angel Tree-
Delivers gifts to children of prisoners using the parents name. It is very difficult for these children during the holidays.
World Vision-
In their Christmas gift giving catalogue, you can give a goat, ducks or share in a well. This is perfect for the hard to buy for family/friend and means so much to those who receive.
Operation Christmas Child-
Pack a shoe box full of small gifts for a child
Remembering the soldiers
USO Care Package-
cost $25 each to deliver a care package to a soldier
Soldiers’ Angels-
This has a variety of programs (scroll down to Programs & Teams) from the soldier in service, to the injured and to their families.
Operation Military Pride
"Adopt a solider" program where you request the name of a soldier and info about care packages
Other gifts of kindness
-Help an elderly or disabled person decorate their home or go shopping
-Call and ask nursing home or orphanage for a list of residents who normally don't receive gifts and gift ideas. I do not sign my name to the tag so the resident can assume it is from someone he/she knows.
-Pick names from a gift-wish tree.
-Collect hats, gloves, and scarves for a shelter.
-Assist with "Toys for Tots"
-Pick names from a gift-wish tree.
-Donate Christmas cards, wrapping paper and small gift items to nursing homes, shelters, etc. so the residents may share the Christmas spirit with family and friends.
-Give gifts to missionaries.
-Buy two extra cans of food when you go shopping. Donate to the food bank.
-Don't forget the widow or a person whose family is far away. Invite them to come to some of your family's activities
