My cousin was also the minister at my father's funeral. He had met with the siblings to discuss our plans for the service than he ask us to tell him our fondest and funniest memories of our father. We would think a little bit and giggle and state nay you can't tell that. Isn't it weird how some of the most meaningful moments of your relationships are quirky, silly and perhaps slightly off-color things you share with each other? But, maybe that is why they are so meaningful, they are very private and intimate not for public viewing. We decided to share with the minister things that happened with him and his good friends and siblings. We tried to include all of them. My cousin was terrific; my father got his wish. "I want people to laugh at my funeral". Funerals are the celebration of a life and if a life brought joy to others than the funeral should reflect it.
