Native plants Check with your local extension agency for native shrubs, trees, grasses and flowers for your area. Birds prefer native vegetation over the exotic.
Mixed plantings Birds prefer mixed plantings. Mix trees, shrubs, flowers and grasses together in your landscape. For example around a tree plant some shrubs. In front of the shrubs plant a variety of flowers and ornamental grasses.
Or Make a hedgerow with a couple small trees, shrubs and flowers, ferns, and/or grasses planted under. Include a pole or trellis for vines.
