Puddles Butterflies love to drink from puddles. To create one use a pot saucer with sealed drained hole, Frisbee, plastic or clay flower pots, Tupperware containers, etc. It is preferable if the container holds about a half-gallon of water. Fill container with rocks and pebbles and then cover with water. The butterflies are after the minerals in the water. The rocks gives them a place to perch.
Basking areas Place flat rocks and/ or driftwood in various spots in your garden. This gives the butterflies a place to warm their wings.
Shelter Trees, shrubs and vines where they can get out of the weather and hide from predators.

Butterflies also like leaf and wood piles.
Plant flowers in the sun. Butterflies don't feed in the shade.
