If you believe as I do that furnerals should be a Celebration of your love ones life; here are some ideas on how you can personalize the furneral:
-choose loved ones favorite hymns or songs to be played at the service
-print love ones favorite poem or scripture in the memorial pamphlet and/or have the minister read it during the service
-floral arrangements: include love ones favorite flowers
or other natural products that had meaning to the love one e.g. wheat, bamboo, cat tails, etc.
-when discussing the eulogy with the minister or the individual who will be delivering it; don't be afraid to include the funny and silly (we are celebrating the love one's life) If possible, attempt to include comments pertaining to family members and friends (try to include all individuals that were special to your love one)
-encourage family members to participate as much as they are comfortable with. They can read poems or scripture, give part of the eulogy, read an old letter written by the love one, etc.
-there are a variety of cover designs for the front of the memorial pamphlet. Choose a design that would mean something to your love one e.g. golfing, fishing, roses, etc.
-honor his/her friends by making them honory pal bears
-establish meaningful memorials. What was your love ones special interest?
-honor your love ones requests. If they had made special requests concerning their furneral arrangements prior to their death-attempt to honor them
-create a collage of pictures including baby photo, graduation photo, wedding photo, etc.
