It is always a challenge to find places to store sewing supplies. Here is some ideas.
Interfacing (don't fold) wrap on paper towel or gift wrap cardboard tube or drape over rods or dowels.
Fabric (never store on bare wood-wrap tissue paper over). Mount towel bars to inside of door and drape fabric over. -wooden ladder applied to inside of door. -folded and stored in boxes or plastic baskets (don't fold silk, linen, organza, suede or velvet) -roll fabric on cardboard tubes. -old suitcase. -hung on hangers in a closet. -blanket box. -attack plastic laundry dryer to wall and drape fabric over.
Buttons: strung on safety pins, pipe cleaners, etc. -spice jars on a rack. -swing bins. -baby food jars. - see through plastic hardware containers used for screws etc.
Laces, tapes, zippers, elastic, etc.: -wrap on index card. -clear drawer storage tower. -wall hung shoe or jewelry bag. -zip-lock bag. -labeled envelopes.
Thread: -thread bed. -basket laid on side. -clear plastic box. -shoe box. -on dowels attached to inside of a drawer. -drawer filled with short pegs. -peg board or wire grid attach to wall.
